Homeplus have been running weekly art projects for women now for a number of years. The projects are delivered by artists from Arksekta and have been a great success. It gives women the opportunity to learn new skills, spend some quality time with others, build friendships, participate and feel like they belong. The project helps to combat isolation, boredom and loneliness, often the ladies take the work home and work on it between classes. The projects vary from the women knitting scarves and hats for the homeless, tie and die different patterns onto paths, working with acrylics, arts and crafts and various others. We have found the project particularly helpful for single mothers and females who have just arrived in Belfast speaking little or no English and find themselves isolated and lonely. To find out more information about Artsekta and there work click HERE.
